Year 3: USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills studying
I am scheduled to take this USMLE Step 2 exam at the end of the year.
This is probably the easiest of the 4 exams but perhaps the most nerve-wracking because it is done live in front of actors and doctors. My English is superb since I grew up in the States and my bedside manner is good so that takes care of 2 of the 3 elements of the exam. So, my main concern is the diagnostics/note writing portion of the exam. I have the standard prep books and will update you with the ones I felt were the best for me. So far the NMS review book is the one I currently feel is best. It details the physical exams vs the kaplan book which just tells you to do the exam without explaining how to do it. Perhaps Kaplan assumes I know things which I do not. I find the practice for the exam extremely useful for my overall education as it has already helped with the last weeks of my internal medicine rotation and I’m sure will help with the Family Practice rotation I start next.
