Caribbean Medical: Dismal Match Stats
You wanna here an awesome stat. I started with 20 people in my Caribbean Medical class. 2 of us were eligible for the match in 4 years which is the normal time for a US student. Only one of us matched at the normal time.
The person had 2 parents who were physicians who were pretty prominent people and was still unable to get a residency spots. I heard she gave up after not matching again and is doing something else.
About 3 or 4 other students from my original group became eligible this past match. I heard none of them matched. About 4 or 5 from my original group get held back after failing some basic science courses and eventually, at least until now, have not made it through. The other ones either never finally made it past Step 1 and/or Step 2 or are still studying for either or both.
Many of them are very prominent on the social curcuit. They go to parties all the time, all the Indian concerts and always attend all family functions and never study like their life depends on it. Part of the problem of course is the parents who have sheltered them their whole lives and continue to do so.
Sobering stats. Keep this in mind when you apply to Caribbean Medical school .
Pretty good stats.
