Before beginning Residency, a one year internship is required in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Family Practice, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Emergency Medicine, or a Transitional Year Program. Therefore, the sub-internship is recommended to be in medicine, surgery, or pediatrics; most students who completed their sub-internship in medicine.
Basic Scheduling Principles:
Students are encouraged to schedule Dermatology clerkship early in the M-4 year to solidify their career decision. This is particularly important for students who are interested in spending a month or two conducting dermatologic research.
